Applications

Lubrication of metal/metal, metal/plastic, and plastic/plastic substrates in electromechanical applications such as sliding surfaces, threaded connections, gears, and bearings. Designed to provide excellent protection against scoring and seizure and to reduce wear and prolong the life of components in electromechanical applications such as automotive sun roofs.

About this type of lubricant

A paste is a very high concentration of solid lubricant in a small amount of carrier oil — closer to a thick suspension than to a grease. It is used where a grease would be squeezed out: assembly and running-in of tight metal-to-metal fits, press fits, splines, threaded fasteners and anti-seize duty. The solids stay behind on the surface after the carrier is gone, which is the point.

How to choose

Pastes are for assembly and slow, heavily loaded contact, not for continuous high-speed lubrication — use a grease for that. For threaded joints, the coefficient of friction is the number that matters, because it is what a torque figure assumes; a paste that changes friction changes the clamping force the bolt actually achieves. Copper- and metal-filled pastes should not be used on stainless or on joints where galvanic corrosion is a risk.

Specify the pack size and, where more than one grade shares a name, the exact grade on the RFQ.
