Product description

A mineral- oil-based anti-seize paste formulated with solid lubricants such as white solids - used primarily for lubrication of tools.

Features & benefits

  • High-temperature resistance (up to 1,150°C)

Applications

Suitable for the lubrication of tools for hot forming, particularly on hot-flow presses and drop forging; also as a parting agent and slip additive at high temperatures. Used successfully for the hot bending of flat steel St 37 or St 70, the rolling of the ends of vehicle leaf-springs, folding of sheet metal edges, hot rolling of cutters, and drop forging of flywheels made from St 37, as well as for the lubrication of separator plates on chipboard presses.

Composition

  • Technology: Mineral Oil
  • Solid lubricants: White Solids

Available pack sizes

  • 5 kg pail

About this type of lubricant

A paste is a very high concentration of solid lubricant in a small amount of carrier oil — closer to a thick suspension than to a grease. It is used where a grease would be squeezed out: assembly and running-in of tight metal-to-metal fits, press fits, splines, threaded fasteners and anti-seize duty. The solids stay behind on the surface after the carrier is gone, which is the point.

How to choose

Pastes are for assembly and slow, heavily loaded contact, not for continuous high-speed lubrication — use a grease for that. For threaded joints, the coefficient of friction is the number that matters, because it is what a torque figure assumes; a paste that changes friction changes the clamping force the bolt actually achieves. Copper- and metal-filled pastes should not be used on stainless or on joints where galvanic corrosion is a risk.

How to order

Specify the pack size and, where more than one grade shares a name, the exact grade on the RFQ. Indus Hydraulics is an authorised distributor and quotes MOLYKOTE® from Dubai stock where the grade is held; less common grades ship to order. Our engineers will confirm the grade against your application and operating conditions before you commit.
