The 304 Stainless Steel MSS SP-43 Type A Stub End is a Type A stub end in wrought 304 stainless steel: a forged lap with a radiused back that matches a lap joint flange, butt-welded to the pipe.

Pressure rating

A stub end is rated to the pipe it is welded to: a Sch 10 / 40 stub end holds what pipe of that schedule and grade holds. The lap joint flange over it carries the bolt load and sets the flange class.

304 or 316

316 adds molybdenum for better resistance to chlorides and pitting: choose it for sea water, coastal plant and chloride-bearing process fluids; 304 suits fresh water, food and general process service.
