Product description
The 12″ (300 mm) DEMCO Series NE-I wafer butterfly valve is the short-neck, standard-installation member of the DEMCO family, built for ASME Class 125/150 flanges with the widest choice of body materials in the range. This page lists the 2 factory configurations we can supply in this size, each identified by its Cameron part number, with the body, disc, stem and seat it was built with. Every one is rated for 200 psi drop-tight, bi-directional shut-off in an ASME Class 150 body.

Reading the part number
Take J022136-1114311. J022136 is the DEMCO base number for a 12″ Series NE-I valve at 200 psi. The suffix is read left to right: body configuration (1 = wafer), body material (1 = ductile iron), stem (1 = 416 stainless steel), disc (4 = aluminium bronze) and seat (31 = Buna-N). The last character is the operator code.
Performance
- Body rating: ASME Class 150 (285 psi non-shock).
- Shut-off: 200 psi drop-tight, identical from either flow direction.
- Vacuum: sealed against 10 microns (29.9 in Hg).

Construction
- Hard-backed cartridge seat: the elastomer is bonded to a rigid backing ring and can be replaced in the field without special tools.
- Triple stem seal and a dry stem journal keep line fluid out of the stem bore.
- Floating disc centres itself in the seat; the stem is blowout-proof.
- Double-D upper stem and DEMCO top flange accept the full DEMCO actuation range.
- MSS SP-25 marking on every valve.
Installation
The wafer body is clamped between two ASME Class 125/150 flanges on through-bolts and self-centres on the bolt pattern. It is not rated for end-of-line service — choose the lug body if the valve must hold pressure with the downstream pipe removed.
Operators
The DEMCO top flange takes the 10-position locking handle, worm-gear operator and Series DR pneumatic actuators. DEMCO recommends a worm-gear operator at 8″ and larger. Confirm the operator supplied with each part number when we quote.
