A pivoting disc on a top-mounted hinge swings open with forward flow and seats by gravity / line pressure on no-flow or reverse-flow. The wafer body fits between matching API 6A 6BX flanges with very short face-to-face length — typically half or less of an in-line swing check. Disc closure is rapid because the disc travel arc is short.

What installation orientation is supported?

Horizontal flow with the hinge pin at the top is preferred (the disc falls cleanly onto its seat). Vertical-flow-up is also supported. Vertical-flow-down is NOT recommended — the disc fights gravity to close, leading to slow closure and potential chatter.
