About the family

GOST couplings are the Russian and CIS pattern quick-connect used on tanker, fuel and water transfer lines. The two halves are symmetric and clamp together on cam levers against an NBR gasket. Sunpool casts them in aluminium, with male- and female-thread adapters and blanking caps in the same pattern; anodised finish is available on request.

What it connects to

The two coupling halves are identical and symmetric — either half connects to any other of the same size, so there is no male or female part to keep track of. The thread adapters put a male or female pipe thread on one side of a GOST connection for tying into fixed pipework or a pump port, and the cap blanks off a coupling when the line is idle.

Where it is used

GOST couplings are the standard hose connection across Russia, Central Asia and the wider CIS, and are specified on equipment built to Russian standards wherever it is deployed. Typical duty is fuel and oil transfer, tanker loading and discharge, water supply and general bulk transfer, where crews need to make and break large-bore connections quickly and without tools.

Selection and service notes

The joint seals on an NBR gasket held in the coupling face, so the gasket is the wear part: inspect it at each make-up and keep spares with the assembly. Cast aluminium keeps the coupling light enough to handle at 6", and anodising is available on request where the service is more corrosive than plain aluminium will tolerate. GOST is not interchangeable with cam & groove, Storz or Guillemin — confirm the pattern before ordering.
