About the family
Barcelona and Geka are two European claw-type water couplings. The Barcelona pattern is the Spanish fire and irrigation standard, supplied here in aluminium from 3/4" to 4". The Geka pattern is the German utility-water standard, supplied in brass from 1/4" to 1" with hose shank, male-thread, female-thread and cap variants. Both seal on an NBR gasket and connect by a quarter-turn twist without tools.
What it connects to
Both are claw couplings: the halves are pushed together and given a quarter turn, and the claws hold against an NBR gasket. Like-for-like halves mate with each other within the same pattern; the male-thread and female-thread variants tie a hose into fixed pipework, a tap or a pump port, and the cap blanks a line that is out of service. Barcelona and Geka do not connect to one another.
Where it is used
Both patterns are European water couplings. Barcelona is the Spanish fire-service and irrigation standard, used on hydrant and pump lines and across agricultural water distribution. Geka is the German utility-water pattern found on garden and washdown hose, small pumps, compressors and general site water in continental Europe. Both are specified where a connection has to be made by hand, repeatedly, without tools.
Selection and service notes
The gasket does the sealing, so a joint that weeps is almost always a perished or missing gasket rather than a worn claw. Geka is supplied in brass and Barcelona in aluminium, which sets the practical service: brass tolerates potable and mildly aggressive water, aluminium is chosen for weight on the larger irrigation and fire sizes. Caps can be supplied with a retaining chain on request.
How to order
Specify (a) the size, (b) the body material if more than one is listed, and (c) any thread, tail or gasket variant on the RFQ. Indus Hydraulics quotes this range to order from Dubai; engineering will confirm the manufacturer part number against your application, and where a variant is listed as available on request we will confirm the lead time for it before you commit.
