About the family
EN 14420-5 covers threaded hose fittings assembled with safety clamps rather than crimped ferrules, so a hose end can be built and rebuilt in the field without a crimping machine. GA denotes the male-thread fitting and GI the female-thread fitting with union nut and gasket. Tails are supplied serrated or smooth (flat), 1/2" to 4", in SS304 / SS316 or brass, and are made specifically for use with EN 14420-3 / DIN 2817 safety clamps.
What it connects to
GA is the male-thread fitting and GI the female-thread fitting with union nut and gasket, so a GA on one hose end meets a GI on the other, or either meets fixed pipework of the matching thread. The tail is pushed into the hose bore and retained by an EN 14420-3 / DIN 2817 safety clamp — the clamp is part of the assembly, not an accessory, and is ordered with the fitting.
Where it is used
EN 14420-5 fittings are the European standard hose end for chemical, tanker, oil and general industrial hose that has to be assembled — and re-assembled — without a crimping machine. They are the usual specification where an assembly is built on site, where a hose end has to be cut back and re-made after damage, and where the operator wants to inspect the hose tail rather than have it sealed inside a swaged ferrule.
Selection and service notes
Choose the tail form to suit the hose: a serrated tail grips harder and is the default on rubber and composite hose, while a smooth (flat) tail is used where the liner must not be scored, typically on PTFE and thin-wall constructions. Both tail forms are available across the range, so a fitting listed one way can be supplied the other on request. Stainless steel is specified for chemical and food duty and brass for general and water service; the GI union-nut gasket is offered in PTFE or PU to suit the medium.
How to order
Specify (a) the size, (b) the body material if more than one is listed, and (c) any thread, tail or gasket variant on the RFQ. Indus Hydraulics quotes this range to order from Dubai; engineering will confirm the manufacturer part number against your application, and where a variant is listed as available on request we will confirm the lead time for it before you commit.
