Product description
The R-23 is an oval or octagonal ring joint gasket to ASME B16.20 and API 6A. It fits ASME B16.5 flanges NPS 1-1/2 Class 2500; NPS 2 Class 300 / 600 and API 6B flanges 2-1/16″ at 2,000 psi. Supplied new in soft iron, low carbon steel, stainless steel or corrosion-resistant alloy.

Oval or octagonal
Style R rings come in two cross-sections of the same pitch diameter. Octagonal rings seal in flat-bottom grooves; oval rings seal in both flat-bottom and the older round-bottom grooves. Specify the cross-section on your RFQ.
Materials
Supplied in the material your flange calls for. The ring must be softer than the flange groove, so it deforms into the groove rather than damaging it. Each ring is stamped with its number and material code.
